In a new court ruling, former Gray’s Anatomy actor Jesse Williams has just been awarded sole custody of his kids’ health care.
According to court documents recently obtained by In Touch, after appearing in court on March 20 to revisit their custody plan, the former Grey’s Anatomy actor has been awarded sole custody of his children’s health care over his ex-wife, Aryn Drake Lee.
Per the outlined plan, the 43-year-old actor and Drake-Lee will share physical custody with alternating weeks. The deal stated that neither Williams nor Drake-Lee would have more than 14 consecutive overnight parenting times. Additionally, the judge also outlined split vacation time between the two parents.
“The parties shall have three consecutive weeks for vacation during the summer every year, with each parent choosing a week between their two custodial weeks to comprise the three weeks,” the judge said, per the outlet.
Also included in the custody plan, the judge granted Williams sole legal custody “of the minor children as to their healthcare.” However, the judge did make it clear that Williams is required to inform Drake-Lee of all information regarding their kids’ health, education and welfare.
Williams and Drake-Lee met in 2007 before the actor embarked upon his acting career. The two were married in September 2012 after five years of dating. The couple share two children: Sadie, 11, and son Maceo, 9.
In April 2017, Williams filed for divorce from Drake-Lee, sighting “erratic behavior” and “manic outbursts,” on the part of Drake-Lee, shortly after they welcomed Maceo into the world. Upon filing for their divorce, the pair have been embroiled in a lengthy custody battle with Williams wanting to share custody of the children and Drake-Lee wanting sole custody.
Three years after the filing for their divorce, Williams and Drake-Lee’s divorce was finalized in October 2020.
